On a happier note...

...thinking every once in a while about future projects. There was a fantasy trilogy that I messed with years ago that bubbled to the surface, then died, and which I've started wondering about again. There's also a current-day thriller type thing whose protag is starting to gel. Another middle-aged female, but that's my preferred POV so oh well.

Hot again today, with expected highs in the mid-80s. I think King will be treated to another pool party this evening.

It certainly is a POV that I'm quite fond of.

I wonder if the your publisher would want you to use a pseudonym if you decide to go with the fantasy? After all, "Kristine Smith" is synonymous with "Action SF", so a move into a Fat Fantasy Trilogy might be considered potentially confusing to us readers.

I wasn't clear. The current day thing would have a middle-aged female POV. The Fat Fantasy protag would start out in her late teens/early 20s, and age along with the story.

I'm guessing I would have to go with a pseudonym for the current day thing. Don't know about the fantasy. Maybe is I stuck my initial in there, the way Iain Banks does.
