Made the appointment for haircut this weekend. Hoping for a short shag cut. I have a black velvet jacket and a gold/black burn-out scarf. The look I'm aiming for is techno-dandy.

*fingers crossed*

Best of luck. If it comes out wonderful you must post a photo!

I will--I hope it turns out well because I'd like it to become the new website and book pic.

If the photo prints on C3 (the inside back cover), you want to be careful with the contrasts of your clothes to your skin. Very dark clothes against pale skin, printing in black-and-white on uncoated stock, do not always come through well. We end up with a choice between making the author look like a ghost or making the clothes look like a black hole.

Also, you should wear makeup, but not uber-dark makeup, for the same reason. We used to have some very scary pics of romance novelists from back in the '80s glam days.

C3 is where I've been plunked up to now. In the CI photo, my hair is lighter and I am wearing black, and it actually looks ok. The plan for this pic is black velvet jacket with scarf in black and muted gold. My hair is way dark. I tend to undershoot, makeup-wise--I check myself in the bathroom mirror at work, and it looks as though I'm not wearing any. So I will up the usage a little bit.
