The icing on the cake of my day

I lost a bill.

Yes, I know. I have apparently remembered it anyway. I even know about when it should be paid. But I *lost* it, dammit. I hate that.

I purged some parts of the office a week or so ago. I bet I accidentally tossed it.

Well, we've avoided the treadmill long enough. Off to it.

I hear that -- I had to drive out to the middle of Nowhere, TX yesterday because I'd misplaced the electric bill and they were going to cut off the lights on Sunday if I didn't pay up. Whee...

I'm glad I remembered this one. I'm good at losing bills when I'm in the middle of books. Then comes the late notice--pay immediately or curses will rain upon your sorry-ass head. So I pay up, swearing all the while that I never received the bill. Then a few weeks later, in a post-book cleaning flurry, I find said bill, usually in its envelope, unopened, in some forgotten stack of paper.
