Recently, both [livejournal.com profile] jimhines and [livejournal.com profile] kateelliot changed their LJ names from nicknames to their actual writer names. I'm thinking of doing the same thing. For a time, I thought that I would use my blog purely for social purposes, and while I do tend to treat it as a virtual hotel bar most of the time, I also post writing news and link to my website. IOW, there's no real reason to keep the blog a secret.

"kaygo" is a chop-up of a potential pseudonym, but it's not in use yet, so there's no association with anything. Unfortunately, it's also danged short and easy to remember, spell, and type. I don't want to use "kristinesmith" as a username. So, I'll see what I can work out. If/When things change, you guys will be the first to know.

Go with Kristinesmith. Yes, it's longer, but because it's made up of two 'real' words/names it's easy to remember. It's also good marketing.

It's taken, as is "kristine". Since any name being used is off limits, even if the blog isn't active, I'm SOL.

I had to go with an underscore. My new username is "kristine_smith".

That's actually better since it's easier to read.

Yeah, but LJ tends to underline names, which obscures the underscore so that all one sees is a space.

And that's the name that appears on your books! :-)
