Phone call this morning with writer friend helped me see something with this book that has been staring me in the face. In truth, it's something that had been bothering me for the past few books. Now, it's pretty much settled, and I like it, and it helps me see the whole damned business in a new light. It was all pretty much there, but like the picture of the chalice that alters into two profiles, it was all in how I looked at it. Another case of thinking brain going astray as the backbrain stuck with the story as it needed to be. I wish my backbrain could handle financial planning.

Spent part of the morning mowing the backyard FOR THE LAST TIME I SWEAR. Picked up leaves. Considered what I will do with one shaded corner. Dad had dug it up for a garden years ago, but never followed through. Now it's mostly a place where the dogs bury stuff. Since the dogs will get in there unless I fence it off, I need to do something that isn't all that complicated and won't be ruined by the occasional hole. I'll probably just plow up the ground to get rid of weeds, then plant a few sun/shade shrubs and cover the bare stretches with mulch. I know I will occasionally find myself filling in holes and swearing, but I do that anyway.

Sometimes writer friend phone calls are the only way I can get enough distance to work out the problems. Also having them ask one simple question can cause chain reaction of information falling together.

She dumped the idea in my lap. First she offered an idea that actually made me tear up, it caught me so offguard--not in a bad way. It just did what it did.

Then she said, well how about *this*, and by gum, it worked. Made sense. Addressed some issues I had been pondering for ages. The equivalent of a tectonic shift. It was really just a Wow moment, which was something I badly needed with this book.

I do love it when they can do that. Those are the best moments. Although with my best writer friend, the moments usually happen at 3 am.

Mine happened at about 945am. It only felt like 3am.

And tomorrow's Monday already--yea. At least it's a short week down here. I have a four-day weekend to look forward to.
