Currently, those who wish can read my blog on my website--the blog is embedded, and folks can comment if they wish. I would like to have a portion of the most current post show up on my homepage, with a (more...) link which would take folks to the main blog page on the website. That can apparently be done with Wordpress with something called a Loop--does LJ have something similar? A preliminary check didn't show anything.

I admit I didn't go very far in-depth either, but this LJ howto/faq (http://community.livejournal.com/howto/34867.html) did have some information and links with examples about how to embed lj posts into a different website. Looks like some of your ability to customize things will depend on whether you're a free LJ user or not ...

My web person found that, but was hoping for more, I think.

Thanks!

The Loop in Wordpress is the bit of code that iterates over each blog post and spits out the proper HTML for it. The (more...) thing comes from a comment you include as you write the post which Wordpress interprets more or less exactly like a cut tag, except that you only get one per post.

Clear as mud?

I think the best way to accomplish what you're after would be to make use of the RSS feed to your LJ. However, those give you the full text rather than an excerpt, so you'd need some trickery to get the (more...) thing going. Could be done with a bit of PHP, if that language is available to you.

Webmistress is looking into it.

This would be a nice piece of code for LJ to offer. I would pay for it.
