...when you work out a tricky bit of political business that you'd glossed over in the first draft.

Uncomfortable with the timing between the actions of Jani and another POV. I feel like I"m leaving the other POV offstage for too long. The switch of two chapters may be enough to fix this. Not sure. I'm building up to the big wrench that drives the rest of the book. The reader already knows what's going on at this point, and they may wonder 'where's so-and-so'.

OTOH, it may move more quickly in the reading than in the writing.

Hot today--high of 90F. Possible storms tonight. I'd say more than likely judging by the way my head aches.
