Squee!!

Sale!

My short story, "8 rms, full bsmt, will be appearing in Misspelled, an anthology edited by Julie Czerneda. It is expected to see the shelves sometime in 2007.

Oh, nifty! We get to share a ToC!

Congratulations!!! Can't wait to read it!

And I think that uses up my exclamation point quota for the day....

Damn that was quick :)

Way to go!

Well, Julie had asked me to think about a story. I wrote one, but there weren't any guarantees, especially given that I lack experience in "light" and "humorous." Angst is, after all, my baseline state.

It's not a rollick-fest, but I enjoyed writing it, and hope folks like reading it.

Excellent! Congratulations! :-)

Yay Yay Yay Yay Yay!

[identity profile] kristine-smith.livejournal.com 2006-06-27 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Still bouncing.

I need a rubber ball icon...

Oh, you da man!

[identity profile] kristine-smith.livejournal.com 2006-06-27 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Will a simple cut/paste work??

I really need to find a good icon program, because sometimes I would like to add text, and I can't do that with iPhoto.

Re: Oh, you da man!

[identity profile] jimhines.livejournal.com 2006-06-27 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I swiped the image from a Google image search, but it's 100 pixels high, so it should work as a LJ Icon. I think you'd have to save it to your hard drive (right-click and Save As), then upload it to your userpics in LJ. Does that make sense?

I've done one or two icons using Photoshop, but text tends to get slightly blurred when I do that. Very annoying. Plot Bunny is the only one I've been really happy with :-)

Ok. I managed to save one animated icon by doing a cut/paste, iirc. Hope it works for this one.

test

[identity profile] hittite.livejournal.com 2006-06-27 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay!!! Congratulations!!! It is so freaky that Julie was talking about the "Misspelled" anthology just two days ago at a convention I was at and here you are, being published IN it!!! Talk about degrees of separation!

Way to go!

Thanks!

Woot! Congratulations!
And for achieving such great turnaround time, too.

[identity profile] kristine-smith.livejournal.com 2006-06-27 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Like I told [livejournal.com profile] daveamongus, the story was expected, so I guess I caught a break there--although given what I heard concerning the other subs, Julie was preternaturally fast in responding across the board.

[identity profile] ccfinlay.livejournal.com 2006-06-27 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome! Congrats.

Thanks!

Bravo!

‘I like the groovy way you misspell English words’ from our first contact. (http://kaygo.livejournal.com/234459.html)
Prophetic? Spooky? Or just plain old coincidence?

Re: Bravo!

[identity profile] kristine-smith.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Which words do I misspell?

Besides, I'm guessing, the -our thing.

All of this 'cos I thought it was groovy that I was getting a US edition book.

Wow, slow down there, I've only known you five minutes and we have an 'our' thing? Do we have an 'our' tune too?
Please Gadz, let my assumption that you are smart enough to realise that's a lame attempt at a joke be correct
I see funky patterns in the world- I remarked that you misspell words (which I rarely do, even in jest, being a recovering dyslexic I haven't touched a misspelled pronoun in 42 days ;)) and you just go right ahead and sell your words to be included in an anthology entitled Misspelled (which, I'm supposing, isn't a daily occurrence for you either).
As I said, I see funky patterns-I didn't say they made sense.
And, yes, I spell-checked this, as I do most things.

Re: All of this 'cos I thought it was groovy that I was getting a US edition book.

[identity profile] kristine-smith.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Patterns are good.

This is why you are the writer and I am………well…….just not!

[identity profile] anuttermutters.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Explanations (that will probably find me needing an extending ladder to get out of this hole that I am becoming fully entrenched in) follow-
‘Please Gadz’ bit-‘cos I once made a (misinterpreted) joke on Mr Lynch’s LJ and have not, as yet, been fully forgiven.
‘which I rarely do’ remark that is, not misspell (without spell-check I write in fully unbreakable code, letters strewn willy-nilly and semi-colons thrown in just for fun)
‘recovering dyslexic’- I’d go to Dyslexics Anonymous meetings but I can’t find them in the directory ;) I once tried to start my own self-help group but nobody came; I put up posters and everything- Dyslexics Untie they said, all in capitals and bold.
Is it too late to claim sleep-deprivation induced nonsensical gibbering, bow out and take myself to bed?
*nods- yes patterns-they are indeed good.

[identity profile] retrobabble.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Woo-hoo! *grooves along to the sale beat*

[identity profile] kristine-smith.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

I need to look for a dancing icon...

After I tweak the story.
