Mickey's liver enzymes, while not completely within normal range, have gone down. 117 instead of 147. Vet is content. We can recheck in 6 months, when the Mickster goes in for his rabies shot.

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes. I am relieved because, well, worried dog mom.

Ughh--

I disappear for a couple days, and everyone has crises! Glad to hear Mickey is doing well -- does the vet think this was from an external sourse? I had a cat once whose liver panel shot way up -- eventually it returned to normal, after many expensive tests. Vet thought she'd gotten hold of a cricket that a neighbor sprayed.

The vet said that sometimes they never find out what caused the problem. Mickey's issue was that a single value, ALT, was elevated. He was on antibiotics for a couple of weeks in case the elevation was due to some sort of GI infection that may have caused inflammation of the bile duct and thus would have affected the liver. This may have been the case--both King and Mickey eat things I can't even bear to describe, and Mickey's gut has shown to be much more sensitive to assaults than His Highness's.
