I had just started replenishing the emergency savings, which were wiped out by King’s surgery etc.

Early this week, the thermostat conked out. Had it replaced today.

Kuro’s brakes have started squealing intermittently. I made the appointment with the garage for a week from Saturday.

I know! That's why I NEVER say anything out loud when I've had a windfall, or saved any up. Cars especially have good hearing like that.
