Apr. 2nd, 2006 10:16 amSpring Forward! Like
sartorias, I despise DST. It takes me weeks to adjust, and the greater amount of daylight doesn't pay off for months. I will, in fact, miss daylight at 530am. It served a spur to get me out of bed.
A line of t-storms is headed this way, hence the headache. I hope the lake chill keeps things from getting too nasty here. Rockin' storms in April aren't my idea of a way to start the season. Robins and daffodils, yes. Shingles blown to hell and gone and I'll phone the tree service on Monday to drag the fallen pine out of the driveway, not so much.
Took the guys to the vet for their annuals last week. The funny part was that King has officially been christened 'a big baby.' I guess he got as squirmy as a three-year-old when they tried to give him his shots, backing into corners and shifting this way and that. Word got around. Even the tech who phoned with the test results referred to him as a baby.
Unfortunately, a fly turned up in this batch of ointment. There was a slight abnormality in Mickey's liver profile, an elevated reading that will mean a retest in a month's time. *Please* don't tell me all the awful things it might be--I can Google with the best and I have an imagination to boot.
The vet did tell me that the reading isn't high enough to be overly concerned as of yet. If that were the case, she would have had me bring him back sooner. It isn't a food-drug related reading--I wondered because I had given Mickey his monthly heartworm meds a few days earlier. This particular reading could indicate muscle damage, and well, King does get rather rough with the Mickster at times and they do play every day, weather permitting. So fingers crossed that it's something like that, or maybe even that a higher than normal reading is normal for Mickey. Failing that, let it be something manageable.
In writing news, have started the J5 rewrite. The first chapter will see some changes compared to the version posted on the website, including the opening and the name of the pov character. The new opening line is similar to the old one in that it's a scene-setter:
The altar room in the Haárin transept of Elyas Station proved much more than Imea nìaRauta Rilas had feared, warm and quiet as any in Rauta Shèràa.
As you can see, the character's name has been changed from Baptiste to Imea nìaRauta Rilas. She is bornsect rather than Haárin.
Oh well, back to it. Rainy days are good for writing, at least.
