Watching “The Doctor’s Wife,” and wondering how Auntie and Uncle could get bits of Time Lord implanted and not be changed given that Time Lords have to be burned when they die in order to prevent their genetic material from falling into the wrong hands.

Of course, if they lose a hair from their head or shed skin cells, someone with a piece of tape could get some anyway.

They have implanted pieces of Time Lords 'cause they slaughtered the Time Lords for parts to keep themselves alive once the Time Lords became trapped in the pocket dimension after the creature ate the power cores of their TARDISes.

I know that. I'm wondering why they weren't changed somehow given that TL genetic material is so precious.

Try not to think about it too much. :)

I think that may be the better course.

And I love this Romana 1 icon, but I am reluctant to use it because people might think I'm insulting them. NO. I use it as a commentary on the general situation. In this case, the selective sequester of Time Lord genetic material.

*grins* I shall not be offended by your choice of icon. :)

One of the few parts of the second (or third) Austin Powers movies I thought was funny was Basil Exposition telling Austin "Try not to think about it too much -- just relax and enjoy the ride". Then he looked directly into the camera and said to us, the audience, "And that goes for you all as well!"

For instance -- something has been killing Time Lords by the hundred and no one ever noticed? The Doctor spent most of his time as a renegade, but wouldn't a regular serving Lord file flight plans?

"The Doctor's Wife" is one of my favorite episodes b/c of the interplay between the Doctor and Idris/TARDIS. But not thinking too much about the sciency and logic bits.

Canon is hard when a series spans decades and multiple writing teams.
