Watching Dr Who. “The Lodger.”

Anyone know anything about that OMG creepy painting in the hallway? I have a feeling that it was just Moffat or someone playing silly buggers, because whoever hung it there must have known it was a scene-stealing prop.

I wondered about that too and through the magic of google discovered I wasn't the only one, not by a longshot. (http://tiny.cc/abqkiw)

I can't remember now whether someone figured it out or not - one hypothesis was that it was a portrait made of bits of all the Doctors. But if you follow some of those threads maybe someone will have IDed a Victorian serial killer, or something...

I found some of those sites. Lots of guesses.

Every time I watch that scene, I cannot take my eyes off that picture. And it's creepy. I'm usually not disturbed by clowns, but I find it clownlike and creepy.
