Blizzard watch
Jan. 31st, 2011 12:45 pmAs in "we are under".
A little bit of snow tonight into tomorrow. Then Tuesday afternoon/evening into Wednesday, the sky falls down. Anywhere from 12-24+ inches snow predicted, with sustained winds of 30-40 mph. The NWS used the term "life-threatening conditions" when discussing the possibilities.
There's always a chance things could shift, which would mean less snow. But so far, no sign of shiftage.
I'm planning to work from home Wednesday. Arranged with the lawncare guys to do the driveway, which means I just need to worry about the roof. I have a basic one-floor ranch-style peak on both the garage and house. Both roofs have newer shingles and are about half newer wood. I would not expect trouble, she said hopefully, but we haven't had this much snow predicted since 1999. I will probably bring the roof rake thingie up on the deck, just in case. If we get much more than a foot, I'll be using it.
I just don't want the power to go out. I have enough firewood for a day, maybe, and I'm not too concerned about getting cold. I just hate it when the power is out.
