Almost the weekend

Awoke to rain and temps 15 degrees (F) below normal. Looks like the gloom will hang around until Sunday.

In better news, Gaby continues to do well. Fingers still crossed that this continues. I'm now searching for a venison-sweet potato dry food. Vet thinks Royal Canin offers one, but the only one we can find so far has white potato, not sweet. White may be OK, but we would prefer sweet. Natural Balance has one--I assume they've dealt with the melamine contamination crisis of a few years ago. Eukanuba has one, too. Hard to find a venison food that doesn't contain chicken fat. Timberwolf offered some interesting choices, but. Chicken fat. No more beef or poultry for the Gabatron.

Hawks won, beating their old goalie in the process. Huet was benched in favor of Niemi. Good. I have no faith in Huet. I think it was a mistake to keep him and let Khabibulin go...even though they beat Khabi last night. He still kept Edmonton in the game.

Time to wash my hair, I guess. Oh well. Hello. day...

As luck would have it...

I stopped by the local feed store to ask them to order a small bag of the Natural Balance Venison & Sweet Potato Limited Ingredient Formula. It's a specialty blend, so I assumed they wouldn't have it in stock. As it happened, they had a bag that had been special-ordered, then declined. It was the 25-pounder, unfortunately, but if it works, it will last until the end of the year.

Gaby stood on her hind legs to sniff the bag as I carried it in. I gave her a very small amount mixed with her wet food, and it went over quite well. Switchover will be slow. Fingers crossed that the good reactions continue. A week ago at this time, she was one sick little girl. I never want to go through that again. I'm guessing that she doesn't, either.

She is very energetic, in part because she's been cooped up inside for several days. This weekend, it's supposed to dry out and rebound into the 50s, so I should be able to let her run her butt off then.
