Currently sitting in the lobby of the Drury Hotel in St Louis, partaking of the free wifi. The Novelists Inc conference will be getting underway later this evening with a get-together, I think. I need to go check the program.
Woke up a little after 5am. Thanks to the usual pre-departure phutzing--Did I pack that? Am I sure? Did I turn that off?--I didn't hit the road until 715ish. Instead of catching I55 south of Chicago, I swung out to Rockford and then south. It added a half hour and about 30 or more miles to the trip, but I got to drive through farm towns and fields instead of ZOMG morning rush hour.
I love my Garmin! It saved my behind twice, once when I took a wrong turn outside Rockford and again in St Louis, when I missed the exit that would take me to the hotel. Because you're supposed to bear left. But there's left and there's far left, which is the on ramp to I75. But Garmin talked me down and around and up and down the one way streets, and ten minutes later I pulled in front of the hotel. I heartily recommend them.
Met
e_moon60 and Webmistress Ruta in the lobby. We trudged off for lunch, then split up to reconvene later.
patinagle just stopped by. Drinks and noshes later. The weather is clear and coolish. Hoping for a good conference.
