I can't wrap my mind around the fact that there are companies that are over 1400 years old.

King torqued his left front foot/leg at some point during the weekend. The backyard is coated in spots with slushy snow and ice patches, and I am guessing he sprained it running. He limps a lot when he first gets up. It gets a little better as he walks on it, but it's not great. It wasn't so bad until this morning, when he bolted after a squirrel. This no doubt aggravated matters.

So I called the vets' office to see if aspirin was off limits given his dodgy stomach, only to learn that the nice vet who worried after him so is no longer there. Saturday was her last day--she moved to a far away 'burb, and so needed to leave this practice. Tech and I talked a bit, and decided the better course of action would be to bring King in, just in case. So he will get to meet New Vet.

So much for working out tonight, which is kind of OK given that my stomach is a little dodgy as well.

Fingers crossed that this King Thing is nothing serious. I hate to sound selfish, but Serious would be the absolute last thing in the world that I need right now. Not that the world ever listened, but still. Hoping.

Oh goody--I get to try to persuade King to get into Kuro's backseat. I do have a ramp, but still. Should be interesting.

Crap.

Could be a muscle strain or sprain in the left shoulder, which unfortunately will take some time to heal. Limited exercise. Rest. No meds for now, since they can torque the tum and King's is so sensitive. If it doesn't get better in a week, I'll have to bring him back in for x-rays.

New Vet is nice. We muzzled King because he has gotten nervier over the last year or so. Called in a tech to help hold him. Then NV gave King a thorough joint exam. This was when she noticed/felt the crackle/whatever in the left shoulder. There's also some lessened flexibility in his right hip, which could be arthritis. He needs to lose some weight, 10-15 pounds, as NV would like him on the lean side to lessen the stress on his hips. I should keep up with the skin/coat oil, which also helps the joints, as well as with the Glyco-Flex, which I bumped up to Level 3 several months ago.

After the exam was done and we took off the muzzle, we gave King a chance to settle. He had a few treats. Sat down. Slowed down. Of course, he wasn't limping much if at all, but NV did say that adrenaline is a pretty good painkiller.

I need to get a step stool or something to help King get into Kuro--he's never been a jumper and given his hip issue it isn't going to get better.

I took Gaby along for moral support. She still will not get into a car on her own, and she grumbled when I picked her up and put her in the front seat. She stayed behind when I took King inside--it wasn't cold--and was a very good girl. Dozed on the way home.

Of course, it started raining on the way down, and was raining harder when we left the vets' office.
