Yes, there are too many people that are hurting now, and too many organizations that need support. We all have to pick and choose, and it's hard.

But I think this is worth some support.

Went out. Ran errands. Voted.

Paid about $20 less to fill up Harrison. Maybe the one beneficial effect of this financial meltdown.

Nighttime temps have fallen into the lo 40s, and have dipped into the hi 30s in places. I have about 6 very green tomatoes to show for the summer's labors, which I may need to pick soon--can I leave them on the vine as long as the temps don't fall below freezing?

Everyone...well, some folks on my flist...talk about BPAL scents.

I saw the list of available scents, and thought "Oh dear--where to start?" Turns out they have a Good Omens page--I may give a couple of these a try. Given that my preference runs toward light airy perfumes like Wensleydale ("An immaculately clean scent: well-scrubbed soapy skin and fresh cotton."), I may have a hard time finding scents I like, but I will give them a try.

I have to try Crowley (Infernal musk, red patchouli, lilac cologne, mahogany, lemon rind, oakmoss, leather, and vanilla husk. ), no matter what, because on the list of Fictional Characters on Whom I Nurse Violent Crushes, Crowley ranks in the Top 5.

Not sure if BPAL would be interested in this. Seems more steampunky than Goth. Gothpunk? Blaupunkt? Who knows.

There's just something right about concocting a cemetery scene complete with ghosts on a chill, gray October afternoon.

The Chicago Tribune endorsed Barack Obama for President. This is the first time the paper has endorsed a Democrat.

Obama is deeply grounded in the best aspirations of this country, and we need to return to those aspirations. He has had the character and the will to achieve great things despite the obstacles that he faced as an unprivileged black man in the U.S.

He has risen with his honor, grace and civility intact. He has the intelligence to understand the grave economic and national security risks that face us, to listen to good advice and make careful decisions.
