I'm here, in the room. The flight was nice and boring. Didn't get to bed until after 11, but it wasn't because of packing so much as a bunch of tail-end things that needed doing. Anyway, fell asleep pretty quickly, only to be jarred awake at 230 by a couple of loud bangs. May have been firecrackers. May have been rebel incursions from the hills. All I know is that if what I wished on them comes to pass, their family tree will be a stump.

Got up. Made coffee. Made myself eat breakfast even though I wanted to get on the road. *Lots* of construction on the way to OHare, but even with that, it only took an hour to get there. Checked in nice and quick. Tried out the Concourse C Red Carpet Club this time--it was OK, but I am going to seriously reconsider when it comes time to re-up because all it seems I'm getting for my money is quieter space. Granted that my gate was an overheated hole and the Club was nice and cool. But I'd have gotten better snacks and coffee out on the concourse, so. We'll see.

Anyway, landed. I was planning on taking the hotel shuttle, but I trekked out to the waiting area only to learn that I should've gotten my ticket inside the terminal. Didn't feel like schlepping back inside, so I sprung for a cab. Driver was an older gentleman who had a lot to say about Colorado history and weather and whaddya know he also loves John le Carré and Alec Guinness films from the 50s and we both thought CHINATOWN was a great flick. So I'm glad I sprang for the cab.

Checked in at the con, then back to the hotel. Snagged an outside table for lunch, a really nice salad and what turned out to be a *huge* bowl of black bean & buffalo chili. So I've had my greens and I'm protein-packed.

Weather's gorgeous, sunny and not too warm. I will wander back to the con center for [livejournal.com profile] e_moon60's panel on "Age & Wisdom: The Older Protagonist in SF". There are actually quite a few panels I would like to see. This may be the first worldcon since LoneStarCon '97 where I actually go to a bunch of panels.

I'm going to sleep like a rock tonight...I hope.
