ksmith: (gimme a break)
Fun lunch with [livejournal.com profile] novel_mom and friends at Casa de Lara. Met with a nice lady from NIU who is interested in archiving SF authors' papers--I was pleasantly surprised to be approached, and may have found a home for all those CE'd manuscripts.

Puttered. Dinner with [livejournal.com profile] novel_mom and her friend I-have-no-memory-for-names-but-a-very-nice-lady. No programming. Talked with folks until the wee hours.

Did not have to change rooms--yea!

Reading later. Tiptree auction tonight. I also want to check out the Art Show.

Currently in the Club lounge, overlooking the Capitol and, this morning, the Farmers Market. Some demonstrators have entered the scene and are circling the Dome grounds along with all the shoppers. From this remove, it's like a scene from The Prisoner. With cheese.

So happy--reading of "8 rms" went very, very well. Folks laughed. Quite a bit. In the right places. Happy.

And the other readings were wonderful! Pat Murphy read from a fantasy novella in progress, Greg Frost from SHADOWBRIDGE, and Carol Emshwiller from a story she just sold to F&SF. I can't recall ever enjoying readings as much. We had a full house--most of the chocolate was consumed, as was the bottle of scotch that Greg brought.

Bought two small drawings by Quynh Mai Nguyen, a frog and a gathering of unicorns. Very nice dinner with Yanni Kuznia and Diane Silver. Then the Tiptree Auction--I am now the proud owner of a very rare Space Babe coin bank.

Long day. Good day. Sleep now. Happy.
