...which means that many of you have seen this posted elsewhere.

SF & F Novelists is the brainchild of Tobias Buckell, and a dandy hub with links to and info about many writers in the genres. Check out the links, the blog, the whole nine yards. Tobias did a wonderful job pulling this together.

Laughed at this post, link by way of [livejournal.com profile] jimhines.

When I first worked out idomeni names for the Jani series, I did fling apostrophes about. "Haárin" began life as "Ha'arin," which would work, glottal stop-wise. But some names, I'm guessing, didn't.

Around that time, I stumbled over a Usenet thread in which the overuse of apostrophes in SF/F was discussed and slammed. I went back to my idomeni names and worked out the left and right accent mark system that became a way to differentiate bornsect and Haárin names and words. In the end, I think it was a better path. I still see lots of apostrophes in SF/F names and words, but not many accent marks.

ENDGAME won't be out for three months, but there are already "2 New & Used" copies being offered on Amazon. One is through Amazon, which I think is just the standard stock. But the other is a new vendor who is offering a copy for $1000.99...+ $3.99 shipping.

One is compelled to wonder whether this is a serious case of mistyping. One doubts one's books could command such lofty prices. If they can, one has a few boxes of old books in the basement and some home remodeling to finance.

UPDATE: it was a case of mistyping. The price is now $10,000.99...+ $3.99 shipping.

I can offer a signed galley for, say, $5000. I'll even cover the shipping.

I tried to embed the code in my LJ profile, but it didn't work. Maybe I'll try again, seeing as it's working here.

I think this is very neat.
