Everyone's talking about 2007 reading, so lemming that I am...

Reading duties for the PKD are over, so I can go back to reading-not-as-homework again. Started Blindsight, and was grabbed pretty firmly by the Prologue. Reading will be spotty until I get the Endgame revisions finished, but I think I'm going to like this one. I usually hate jumping on book bandwagons--I'm always fighting the feeling that something is being shoved down my throat--but, well, if this continues the way of the Prologue...

Also received Rupert Everett's autobiography, which looks like it will be fun.

Could use another year, year and a half.

Yes, there's still the weekend, but that doesn't count.

Dragged out of bed at the normal work week time and drove Kuro to the dealership for his checkup. No bad news. Oil change. Check fluids. Check brakes. Wash and wax and interior vacuum. Mats cleaned. He looks quite spiff.

Spent two hours in the waiting room. I brought along the iBook, so I was able to work on Endgame revisions. I'm weaving existing text with new stuff, which seems to take longer than ground floor rewrite. I'm also getting too bogged down in twitching phrases back and forth and deleting/adding words, which is something for the last pass. Right now, it takes up too much time, but sometimes I can't help myself.

The iPod came in handy, as I was able to use it to block out the waiting room TV. At least it was the Today Show, which isn't too obnoxious. The dealership switched out their old TV for a new HD set and boy, is that unkind to the face. If you have large pores, they show up. Sags and bags and lines under the eyes--oh yeah. Even the layers of make-up on the glossy 20-somethings shows up. It really is merciless. I had read somewhere that actresses were complaining, and now I know why.

Knees hurt. Dammit. The inner sides of both, but the left is worse than the right.

I warm up for ten minutes before jogging, a slow walk that gradually increases in speed. I apparently need to do more.

I found these knee exercises and a description of runners knee, which I am guessing is what I have. I don't tend to the glam afflictions--I think it's simply overuse of some things that haven't seen this kind of excitement in 48 years.

Which means I need to lay off until the pain goes away, which I hope isn't more than a week. I'll probably lose the ground I've gained, and need to start over while adding in the exercises.

I don't necessarily want to be 18 again, but I'll take the knees...and maybe the digestion.
