Worked on J5. I'd been grappling with the same scene for over a week, and couldn't figure out where to take it--all the dialogue sounded flat and the overall action just didn't want to move forward. Decided to go with a fix I'd been pondering for a few days, even though it means some rewriting of a couple of scenes I thought I'd finished with. I'll take a chapter from the first draft and insert it before the problem scene. I think it will ratchet the conflict nicely, and allow the problem scene to shake out a little more naturally.

I would love to get 3-4 chapters reworked this weekend. We'll see how it goes.

Found in today's mail--a thank-you note from the last plumbing company I used, along with a coupon good for $20 off the next service call.

Found downstairs--a leaky laundry sink. New taps will be needed.

Funny how that worked out.

...but Macy's/Marshall Fields has been running a radio ad the last few days that irritated me. A man and woman meet on a blind date. It becomes obvious fairly quickly that the man is an asocial bumbler, a point driven home near the end of the commercial, when he asks the woman if she knows about the "sci-fi convention" that's going on that weekend.

I wrote a letter. Mentioned the names of two stores in which I would no longer be spending my money. The term "cold day in a hot place" saw the light.

I am ticked, dammit.
