'tis the season
Aug. 25th, 2005 07:50 pmWell, it's inching into the -ber months, which means it's time for the holiday card catalogs to start rolling in. My favorite is the one from the Museum of Modern Art--I've ordered several cards by Robert Sabuda over the years, and he has more nice ones on sale this year. Like this one, frex.
A couple other gadgets for the person who has everything. Good for power emergencies or the odd subway stranding.

Aug. 25th, 2005 08:48 pmRegistration probably required for this article about everything old becoming new again. I know that the use of leeches and maggots is old news. The regulatory approach by the FDA, however, is a new one on me.
"The primary mode of action for maggots is chewing," said Mark Melkerson, acting director of the Division of General, Restorative and Neurological Devices. "For leeches, it's the eating of blood. Those are mechanical processes." Thus, the agency decided that maggots and leeches were devices, Mr. Melkerson said.
I can see it now--maggot RFIDs. Barcodes for leeches.
