I like stuff, same as anyone else. I will admit, though, that I am not as enamored of the contents of Levenger as other writers I know. Nice pens and notebooks/journals leave me cold. I appreciate some nice pens--I used to like Sensa with the gel-filled barrel because they were easier for me to hold--but overall I just use cheap ballpoints. I have some Bics with alien motifs that I use quite a bit. As for notebooks/journals, I use Mead Fat Lil' Notebooks. I write stuff in them, and seldom if ever go back to what I've written. Thing is, if I *don't* write it down, I'll forget it. If I do write it down, I'll remember it. Go figure.

I am on Levenger's mailing list, however, and I will admit that a few items in the latest and greatest have made me sit up. One is something called Card Bleachers, a tiered wooden stand that lets you insert 3x5 cards across a row and/or down several rows. Depending on how you work out plots, it could come in handy as a way to sort things out. I know that sticky notes on the wall may work just as well, but this is all nice and wooden and stained and stuff.

Then there's a book entitled Spoken Like a Pro that lists slang terms used by various professions. I will probably spring for that, because, you know, words.

One thing I did cough up for from another catalog was a, heh, desk organizer. I went to the site to order chair cushions and kitchen mats, and there it was, the internet special of the day at $10 off. Wood, with a rubbed black finish that will match the black/birch desk. I'm hoping that the slots and drawers and such will hold the stuff currently spread out among several plastic things.

The desk is starting to spin out of control again, and I don't see it getting better until next month. Organizing the stuff for the accountant will compel. Until then, I'm trying not to look.

Ah.

There is a Levengers in Chicago, and I should probably avoid it.
