I think I have a cold.

Yesterday, it felt as though my allergies, which up to that point had been manageable, had decided to execute a power play against every cell in my body. I couldn't find the Nasalcrom to settle the nose, but I took the OTC Claritin, a cup of hot tea, and then hied to Walgreen's this morning for said Nasalcrom and allergy drops for my eyes. As soon as I made it back to the car, I sprayed and eyedropped--the drops made my eyes feel the way they do after I visit the eye doctor. I know you have to be careful to not overuse those drops, but I was desperate. What's worse--using allergy drops or scratching the edges of your eyelids with your nails and rubbing until your eyeballs squeak?

Then the aches and chills started. No, Dorothy--I don't think we're in Kansas anymore. Methinks we have a cold--yes, I do get aches and pains with a cold--aggravated by allergies. Oh joy, and we had such plans for today. I bought a set of lawn tool hooks for the garage, hanging pots of begonias and impatiens and new hooks so I could hang them from the eaves, and dust masks so that I could work in the garage without sneezing my brains out.

If it was sunny outside, I'd give it a shot. But it's cloudy and in the hi 40s, with a wind coming in off the lake.

Damn, damn, damn. I wanted to work today. Got all the errands done, and I still have the entire afternoon ahead of me.

Maybe if I take a nap...

If it is the same cold that's been going around northeast Ohio, expect to be sick as a dog for the next two days, with lingering effects (i.e., lots of snots) for the week or so. I almost canceled my trip to Tennessee because of it, but fortunately the two bad days were the two days before I left; I spent was coughing and blowing my nose as I hiked the Great Smokys, but basically didn't feel too bad.

In other words, this is probably going to be a lost weekend for you. Just brew up a big pot of tea with lots of honey, settle down on the couch with a comforter and a box of kleenex, and veg out.

One three-hour nap later...

Thanks for the get well wishes. I feel better, just tired. A little spacey. My nose hurts when I blow it. Ibuprofen/diphenhydramine for cold/sinus headache worked a treat. I have a cup of green tea brewing in the microwave now--I'll try to toss down a couple of cups.

They need a 'sick' emoticon that doesn't imply nausea--I didn't realize what it looked like when I picked it.

Poor pups didn't get a run today. Just when I was about to go outside, a light, cold rain started to fall. No way was I going out in that. If it's halfway decent tomorrow, I'll make up for it.

Mom had the same cold-or-whatever a few days earlier than I did. Thing is, we both got sick a few days after working in the garage--I really hope this is a cold and not some type of allergic overreaction to uncovered molds and such.

What a ^&*%$ wasted day.
