According to WGN, the next town over received 20.0 inches. According to WXRT, enough snow fell at O'Hare to kick this storm into the Top Three to hit Chicago.

More locally, the brick planter in my front yard, which is about 2 feet high I think, is buried. That looks about the average for the yard, with some higher drifts. It's a heavier snow, too, not a fluff powder.

I shouldn't have to rake the roof, though. The wind blew a lot of it off.

We're still under blizzard watch/warning/whatever until 3pm. One last band of lake effect is pushing through. After that, it will clear. But the temps are going to plummet as well. I tell myself that the snow insulates the house.

The power flickered once more before I fell asleep, staying off long enough for the office UPS to beep and the clock on the microwave to kick off. Nothing prolonged, though.

King goes out, does his business, and comes back in. Gaby loves it. She'll stand on high points and survey, then digdigdig. She's now lying next to my chair, licking the snowballs out of her coat.
