The wind's been blowing all day, from the SW. The temp at the official Chicago reporting station hit 86F, which is only 3 degrees under the record high for the date. Yes, it was warm, so warm that I stayed inside and cleaned my office rather than go into the garage and shift things around for the junk guy. 2003 records are now filed away, checks for bills are written, and 2004 receipts were filed. The desk was clean for an hour or so, until cleaning up in other areas led to my taking stuff into the office for more sorting/filing. I'll get the new shipment of junk handled tomorrow, assuming I'm not wrung out from cleaning the garage. I don't know if the guy just wants me available to tell him keep that/dump that, or if he'll expect me to pitch in. I suspect he's been doing this for long enough that I may get in his way. We'll see. It's not like I won't have other stuff to keep me occupied.
A productive weekend so far, even though writing wasn't involved. I have found that while I'm writing a book, I tend to let the records go unfiled and the junk mail and magazines pile up. After I finish the book, I can't get started on anything else until the junk has been dealt with. Now my junk boundaries seem to have expanded beyond my office to encompass the house and yard. This isn't really very good because it's going to take months to get this place into shape and I don't have months to not write. On the other hand, if house stuff doesn't get done in the same manner filing didn't get done in the past, the city will be sending me warning letters about the height of my grass and general state of my yard. And I will be the one to have to do Something about it because it is well and truly mine now. No fallback.
Received a Good Customer gift cert from the hardware store yesterday. What a shock. And my state tax refund showed up in my account on the 14th, although I only took note of it today. Nice surprises both to add to the royalty check of a couple of days ago. They say that bad things come in threes. Well, this time good things followed the pattern, monetary though they were and not on the same level with, say, a disease cure or a declaration of undying devotion.
It's officially Monday morning now, which means I should get some sleep. Busy day cometh the dawn. The wind is still gusting. Possibility of rain after sunrise, but I hope it doesn't show.

Date: 2004-04-19 06:28 am (UTC)Huh. SoCal here and were still trying to consistantly hit 70, which, once again, is not going to happen in my section of the state today.
Had a great rainstorm on Saturday though. I love the rain.
Meanwhile in Norther California
Date: 2004-04-19 10:27 am (UTC)D'you know that a solitary squirrel scampering across a slide area makes as much noise as a bear? You notice these things when you are on the trail alone. Actually, it sounded like a drunk and foolhardy hiker attempting to go off trail.
