Toad in the hole
Jun. 5th, 2009 11:58 pmLet the pups out for the night. King came back in right away, but Gaby found something interesting on the deck. I called and called, but she wouldn't come in. Turned on the light, and saw that she was standing over a small toad, nosing and pawing it.
Got her away from it. King followed me outside--I managed to keep him away from it by covering it with a flower pot. Then I herded it toward a knothole so it could fall to the ground below, only a six inch drop or so. Gaby must have been able to hear it rustle through leaves and suchlike, because she kept going around to the various knotholes and spaces between the boards, sniffing and listening. She finally came in. A few minutes later, she wanted to go back outside. Things like toads under decks seem to prey on her mind.
I told her to go to sleep. I think she did.
