...a draft of Jani 5--Chapter 1 is available here:

I can say without equivocation that it will change somewhat, but I have to write the end of the book before I know how much foreshadowing to put in that chapter.

I am. She wasn't as difficult to get a handle on as were Elon and Micah from CI, but a few changes have been decided upon since yesterday as a goodly chunk of Jani-mystery-solving sort of fell in my lap.

The eternal Catch-22 of Yes, I have it, but oh, drat, I have re-writing to do...

Yeah. I'm taking notes and inserting comments into the body of the text so that I don't forget anything--I've used the Word Comments option more in this book than I did for the previous 4 combined. I figured that handwritten notes could be lost, and notebooks misplaced. Better to keep all the stuff in one spot.

I haven't tried that feature--I usually just edit in another color--but if you like it, I'll try it.

I don't know if Comments works well for edits. I insert a comment at a certain point in order to remind myself to check something or to make sure I mention something in a prior chapter.

You wind up with a numbered yellow tag at the point of insertion--you can see this tag on the screen, but not on hardcopy. If you mouse over the tag, the text part of the comment shows up in a little box. You can also double click on the tag to open up the whole list or to edit.

If you don't mind working with a split screen, you can leave the comments window open as you work. I know some folks prefer sticky-note type editing gewgaws and such, but Comment is working for me so far.

CJM gave me a 3M software program for sticky notes, but I haven't tried it yet!

I confess to being a sticky lover, tho-I give clients their appointments on stickies. They put them on mirrors, dashboards, credit cards...
