Last Night with No Internets saw me rooting out the suitcase for Denver, cleaning up the spare room a little, planting the remaining tomato plants, then watching the first four episodes of ANGEL. This Morning with No Internets or Cooking Shows saw me cleaning the bathroom, taking Harrison for an oil change and some other fairly extensive maintenance, which left him sounding and driving like a new truck. Then came grocery shopping. Massage followed. Needed it after this week.

Came home and vacuumed in preparation for arrival of cable guy. Who, at it turned out, did not have to come inside to check anything. Only had to splice the new cable and go. Still, the vacuuming was needed, and I'm glad I did it.

Tomorrow morning I need to mow the front yard, Internets or Not. I have concluded that occasional lack of Internets is actually a good thing, but I'm not inclined to cut the new cable in order to achieve it.

As I said, I cleared an area in the someday-garden and planted the remaining nine tomato plants, which were starting to look a little sickly in their styrofoam cup homes. In contrast, the plants in the patio garden have almost doubled in size in only six days. One plant that for some reason hasn't yet bent out from beneath the planter looks a little weak, but the other three plants look very good. The best one, unfortunately, seems to be the Tobolsk, which will give yellow tomatoes. I planted it for the sake of variety and curiosity, but I hope the Black Crimson catch up. I'm not averse to trying yellow tomatoes, but I don't think I'd like to eat them all the time.

Anyway, update photos:

The plant I suspect to be the Tobolsk:

A plant I hope is a Black Crim:

Compare with the photos in this post to see how much the plants have grown in six days. On the topside, the oregano threatens to take over. I fear some snipping and drying of leaves will be taking place soon.

Given the events of the week, I didn't get much writing done. I'm now back to wrestling with the beginning, reordering some events in order to pick up the pace. I'd been battling that nagging feeling that the first few chapters were dragging for a couple of weeks now, and I hope this shuffling about is enough.

I'll be bringing the laptop to Denver. I'd love to be able to get some work done while I'm there.
