Jun. 30th, 2008 09:31 pmWhen I let the guys outside, every so often they both roll onto their backs at the same time. Tongues lolling, they grind their backs into the grass and make grunty noises. Then they'll lie very still for a little while, and soak up the sun.
Toward the end of the evening, when I'm still up and about Doing Stuff, they've pretty much cashed it in. King lies on the living room rug or the bare floor in front of the fireplace while Mickey sacks out on the bolster bed. King snores louder than Mickey.
If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I want to come back as a dog that is loved. They experience an in-the-moment brand of contentment that I'm not sure humans are capable of.
