I heard something on NPR this morning about a British researcher who is using lasers to detect forged papers. You scan the known original as it's being created and store the document's identifying signature. If you stumble across the paper later on, you can scan it in and see if the signature matches the stored one. Cool stuff.
One reader emails me every so often with links to brain research. His mother had worked on a project that evaluated a brain perfusion technique as a treatment for stroke that is reminiscent of the DeVries Shunt in RULES. Then a few weeks ago, he sent a link to some research that might help explain why augments can have trouble with the color red--I'll dig out the link when I get home tonight.
It's neat when things you think about seem to be taking form. Only thing is, they seem to come to pass much more quickly than you think possible.
