Crunchy time

sallytuppence's "How did you become a writer?" meme. The Superhero Quiz looks cool...even though Quizfarm blogs don't play well with LJ's Bloggish style.
But. Book is due by September's end. Given that I'll be going to Bouchercon, I should get it in beforehand, so I lose a weekend. I sketched out the remaining chapters, and boy, things are tight. I really did need to lose that sojourn to Guernsey Station after all.
I've got 300-350 pages of rewrite to go. If I'm lucky, half of it will be comprised of first draft, which will require tweaking but is better than starting with blank pages. Not many blind spots here--I know the twists and turns, where things are going, who dies when, and how things end.
Then there's the Incident rewrite. That, I'll save for dayjob lunch hour. I figured out how to lose some characters and compress two scenes into one. That should tighten things up and give me the room I need for the ending, she said hopefully. I have until the end of August for that one.
Why did I do this to myself? Because it'll feel so good when it stops, you moron.
If I show up here more than once a day, whoever finds me first is hereby empowered to kick my virtual butt.
