ksmith: (running shoe)

So about a week ago, I tried a mile with my hacked-up shoes. My heel didn't flare up as badly as it did a few weeks ago, but it didn't feel great. I realized that I couldn't risk buying new shoes using catalog guidelines anymore. I needed to go to an actual running shoe store and have someone evaluate my feet.

So, last night I did some online searching, and found a new shop in Libertyville. Stopped by this morning, old shoes in hand. Got sized, walked a little on the store treadmill. Learned a little about shoes. I had been using a Saucony Omni 4 Trail shoe, which was compensating for a pronation problem I didn't have and rubbing against the insides of my heels as a result. I now have some Asics Gel Nimbus VIIIs, considered a "neutral" shoe. I hope they work. The sensation in my heels will probably be around for a while, though.

The shoes are white with light and dark orange accents. Very...bright.
