...my desk, that is.

I did not collate tax info this evening as I had initially planned. Instead, I cleaned the top of my desk. Vast expanses of laminate are visible again. The card bleachers from Levengers have been set up along the back of the desktop, kind of out of the way--it actually serves as a nice backdrop for the potted plant and such. I didn't have the room for a corkboard or something similar for use in plotting, so I decided to give this thing a try. I better use it, is all I can say.

The desk organizer proved too big to use atop the desk. So it was banished to the top of the file cabinet. I still shifted all the bills, directories, mail and other stuff from a couple of plastic catch-alls into it. In order to not lose track of the bills, which I tend to do if they're not in front of my face, I loaded due dates into my Mac calendar. I'm working my way up to logging expenses into Quicken, so help me.

I actually dusted, among other thing, an eraser. One of the square pencil erasers. It should be noted that black is a really poor color choice for office furniture and desk accessories because it shows dust. I mean, it really shows dust. It attracts dust, just so it can show it. See, human? Dust.

I dumped lots of junk.

Now the only stuff on the floor is the tax stuff. I'm debating venturing into the bowels of Excel--yes, I meant to sound gross because I HATE EXCEL WITH A PURPLE PASSION--to at least set up headers. Maybe I'll even log a couple of categories.

Or maybe I'll do something more enjoyable and pull out my fingernails with pliers.

If I don't look at the bookcases, which are double-stacked with books and have bundles of bookmarks and boxes of envelopes and other office effluvia crammed into any open space above the books, I can pretend a grown-up works here.
