No--all I have is iPhoto.

I had a feeling I needed something like Photoshop...

You don't need anything so powerful as Photoshop to dink with icons. There are free, cheap and inexpensive solutions. Although I habitually use Corel (because I'm used to it), I sometimes use use Ulead products. I also have a whole bunch of pixel fonts suitable for iconage.
