*mutter whinge gripe*
Jun. 8th, 2005 11:02 pmCurrently plowing through the mess in the middle, and as usual the business is giving me the business. I want to keep moving forward without getting hung up for minutes at a time on Picking Just The Right Phrase, so we have a lot of repetitive action going on. Too much head shaking, hands dropping to sides, looking to the ceiling. Niall's going to kipper himself any time now.
Sometimes you hit a bit of business just right, a series of actions that can get your character through the whole scene and indicate mood. That's the way I felt about the Lucien cabinet door-slamming near the end of CI. He had never done anything like that, so it was new and different, the slams added tension to the scene, and the action revealed his mood. I don't know what anyone else thought of the scene, but I liked it.
I just hope I still have the eye when revision time comes, and I remember to switch some of this J5 business out.
