Headcold (whinge warning)
Feb. 22nd, 2005 07:40 pmThe second one in about a month. Dammit.
It's not quite as bad as was the first one, which knocked me out for a weekend and compelled me to cancel a guitar lesson. Moved from itchy ears/throat to runny nose to clogged head in about 24 hours. Now we're at the achy/chills stage, which I'm hoping passes even more quickly.
Yes, I know that most people maintain that headcolds only affect one from the neck up. Except I always get a dodgy tum and some aches and chills with my colds. I did have a flu shot--got mine the first day they offered them, which was also the last day they offered them at my company--and besides, these aren't flu aches. The flu aches I've suffered through in the past are about 10x worse. I'm just achy and chilled. Not to mention cranky. Dammit redux.
Popping decongestant. Drinking tea and juice. Can't taste much at this stage.
Add to this the fact that I wound up on the losing end of a bout with insomnia. Been up since 330am, which means I'm pretty well done-in. I did leave work an hour early. I wanted to leave before noon, but something blew up, as things are wont to do when you want to be elsewhere.
Did write some last night before caving to the inevitable. An interesting walk-on character reared his head. I'm not saying that he'll turn up again, but he is interesting in a what-sort-of-life-did-he-live kind of way.
