I'm on the deck now, having just breakfasted. First load of laundry is in the washer, with another in queue. Dinner is soon to be prepped for later baking--meatloaf, which isn't exactly a hot weather dinner but oh well. Made a 7-grain pilaf/roasted veggie salad y'day for a side dish. Meals for the week.

Made roasted veggie hummus y'day as well. Red pepper. Zucchini. Carrots. Sauted the garlic to take the bitter edge off. Oh my, this is a keeper.

I wanted to go see HP7.2 today, but no go. Too much to do. Early start required at the day job tomorrow, so can't stay up late, either. Once again, Sunday will go too quickly.

The latest LJ DDoS issue has convinced me that it's time to give WordPress a try. The great tech support that is SFFNET has already installed it on my site, and soon Miz Ruta and I will be adjusting some theme or other to suit. I spent part of last night going through said themes--the one I loved was only offered on WP itself, drat it--and settled on 4. I think I know which is the winner but won't know for sure until we try colors on it.

This will mean a redesign of the website, which will be slight or stripped down to the joists depending. I will likely keep the Mists by The Gates photo because I love it, but colors and the books pages etc may change. It was time, I guess. Clean-Out 2011 continues.

I figured I'll stay here until my friends move on. I only read when I have to follow through RSS, I don't post much, and the interface here is more of a community-feel than google reader. I already have a dreamwidth account, although I don't have a reading circle over there as I don't know who's there; haven't hit that magic number where you friend friends yet.

I haven't even looked at Google Reader, or Google+ for that matter. I can't keep up.

I don't have many friends over at DW either. I know it caught on with some folks, and more move over with each LJ crash. But it still doesn't feel like home. I will likely move to Wordpress before I ever get a handle on DW.

I, too, love the mists by the gate photo. So I'm glad you're not changing it.

Depending on the theme you choose, you might be able to use the same photo on the blog header.

I'm staying with LJ for some things just because I don't want to let the bad guys win another one. LJ's been a force for diverse political commentary in Russia and that's apparently the source of the problem (though actually it's Six Apart having sold LJ to Russia in the first place, but...)

::sigh::

I've been poking around and playing with the artwork. Chris McGrath gave me permission to use some artwork from the books, and I've been inserting slices of Jani. That changes the entire feeling of the site. I actually like it. Mists may be retired, as much as I love the image. It says eerie, disquieting. It doesn't say SF adventure.

We'll see. It's work-in-progress time, and the boxes are all open and tools are strewn about the floor.

Ah...and I thought perhaps you were moving more towards "eerie, disquieting" and leaving SF adventure behind. If not, then I see your point. However, I suggest it could still be used (perhaps downsized) elsewhere on your site, for those things which are not SF adventure. ("Other Works" for instance.)

That's an idea. I am hoping that I can designate specific header images for specific pages.

I would like to write more Jani novellas/shorts, and those books are still out there, albeit in e-format.

A slice of the Endgame artwork could cover a multitude of genres. The buildings and moons could be fantasy or sf.
