I was just watching it and had the exact same thought.
Imagine that phone call from his agent: "They want you to play the role of the biggest villain in recent literary history." He must have about fainted from joy.
"Goblet of Fire" is a downer compared to the others, but I will sit through it every time it's on so that I can watch the scene in the graveyard. The moment when Fiennes runs up to Harry and says "I can touch you now." Makes me wonder if he ever danced because he just plain moves so well.
Yes! That exact moment! I wait in anticipation for it--the way he moves so fast and then his arm above his head, poised and sharp, with all that tension in his body and yet seeming perfectly relaxed.
The interesting thing about the movie is that it paces almost exactly the way the book does. Yawn yawn yawn, stuff happening stuff happening...and then the moment the portkey pulls them to the graveyard, it goes electric.
I read a review of GoF years before I saw the movie. The critic mentioned that moment. It's the most gripping scene in the movie.
GoF is on again this afternoon on ABC Family. I shouldn't watch it again, but I know I will have it on in the background in anticipation of that moment. And I already own the movie, which makes this ridiculous. I can watch it anytime I want.
