ksmith: (sadness)

Nothing bad happened--fingers oh so crossed for the next 5.5 hours. But Gaby didn't eat much of anything. Spoke to vet, who said that her stomach is still torqued and there is still some residual nausea, so the return of an appetite may take a few days. Good news is that Gaby is drinking water and keeping it down. She's very interested around mealtime, but that goes away once the food is in the dish. I swear it's the smell of the salmon.

Gaby wants to nibble grass, so I will have to keep her on a leash outdoors until matters settle.

But I'm upset and my stomach hurts and I want it all to go away. I need to write, and my brain wants to burrow in a hole, with or without the rest of my body. A week ago at this time, I was napping through the Ninc banquet in preparation for the St Charles ghost tour. Now I'm keeping an eye on a sick pup.

Vacations always end.

Hugs and sympathies to you! Many wishes to the pup that she has a speedy recovery.

I'll be happy with recovery, period. Given the way the day is going so far, it won't be speedy. Zippo appetite, except for a venison-sweet potato wet food that I'm not sure I can risk giving her yet in larger amounts--so far, I just use a pea-size amount to hide her pepcid.

She's just drinking water every so often. At least she's keeping it down. If she's not eating by Tuesday, it's vet consultation time. Maybe her tum just needs a while to heal.
