Planting day

Planting day is supposed to be May 10 around here. I jumped the gun by a week.

Started yesterday by setting up the raised bed.

Raised bed with dog:

Then came the fencing and the dirt

And the plants. The back row of the higher bed contains 2 very tiny cantaloupe sprouts. Then one row with one zucchini and one yellow squash, two rows of tomatoes (one Sunset Red, the rest Black Crimson), one row of kohlrabi, and assorted herbs (sage, cilantro, parsley, thyme, chives).

I planted the basil sprouts and some dill and chives seeds in the decktop planter, and covered those with wire. Culled seedlings from the sprout trays. I still have a number of plants in the peat pots, mostly tomatoes and squash. No clue what I will do with them if all the stuff in the beds survives.

I also moved the two hosta that Gaby chewed. Here's one of them:

There are a bunch of hosta behind the garage, but so far she has left those alone. I will move those tomorrow, maybe. I am tired now.

Can't wait to see what invades the raised beds.
