The tallest/largest seedlings are the squash and zucchini. The Black Crim tomatoes are doing well, as are the kohlrabi and parsley. Everything else is at least trying to sprout--the chives have put forth two spindly shoots, and the lemon lettuce leaf basil has two as well. The thyme shoots are teeny. The sage looks good. The cilantro is catching up.

The squash and zucchini are scary. I think I know why home gardeners always have bags of the things to give away.

Yeah, pretty much. I always wind up becoming the Banana Pepper Fairy at work. *g*

These are looking good! My co-gardener has planted some Black Crims. I'll be interested to see how they turn out.

Given their burgundy-green color, it's sometimes hard to tell whether they're ripe.

The ones I managed to grow last year stayed on the vine too long in cooler weather. I don't think their taste was all it could have been, even though it was still better than anything from the supermarket.

The thing I've noticed with the Crim is their vigor. I think every seed I planted wound up sprouting. The Sunset Reds are more delicate--no sprouts last year, and only a few this year. I hope I can nurse them along.

The FedEx guy picked up the damaged raised bed kit on Monday--I'm supposed to get the new one later this week. If it arrives by Friday, I'll spend part of Saturday assembling it. No planting, though. Not for another few weeks.

We are supposed to have a few days of 70s, maybe even 80s, coming up. I will wrangle the planters outside so the seedlings get some real sunlight.

I really want this garden to work.
