That's fascinating. The number of old breweries is perhaps not so surprising, but the number of confectionaries fascinates me.

And now I want to go back and reread Tim Powers The Drawing of the Dark, where a really old brewery was the key to saving the world.

The U Flecku Brewery is one of the oldest in the Czech Republic. We ate at the U Flecku Pub when were were in country a few years ago.
