The AHL All-Star game is playing in the background. About 5 minutes to go in the third period. USA-12, Canada-11. When the period started, it was Canada-8, USA-5. It's like a replay of the NHL game. It's crazy.

windrose said that defense goes to hell during All-Star games--no one is trying, the forwards are having fun, and the goalies are put through hell.

You know when things tightened up during the NHL All-Star game? During the sudden death OT period. Five minutes of real hockey. When it finally mattered.

Then came the shoot-out, which was a replay of the first 60 minutes.
