I need a house elf.

A day job elf wouldn't hurt, either.

You figure out where to find one, let me know, k? I could use one of each also. But especially the house elf.

Me, three. Housework is boring and doesn't even stay done.

You know, I think that's the worst part about housework. I don't think I'd mind doing it once in a while if it'd stay *done* for, say, a quarter of the year. Or even a month. But somehow it doesn't stay done for two *days*. It's not fair.

So sign me up for one of those house elves, I guess. :)

I vacuumed yesterday because the dogs had tracked mud in and I can never towel King's feet enough. They're big as saucers and mud squeezes in everywhere. Then it dries and flakes all over the floor as he walks and *dammit* I let them out a couple of hours later and it's the same thing all over again.

Don't mention boots, anyone. If I put him under general anesthesia, I might get the boots to stay on and in one piece.

It's enough to make me wish for the ground to freeze solid until April. Of 2011. The hell with the garden.

Perhaps you could put a large shallow plastic pan full of water right next to the door, either inside or outside, and teach him to prance in it before he came in?

I'm considering it. Or even a bucket--I could dip his feet myself.

They actually sell a dip n dry thing to clean dogs' feet, but they don't come in King's size. XXXL.

I think the "Leave out milk and cookies" bit is outdated. You may be able to attract and keep a house elf with Irish whiskey and chocolate . . .

If I left out milk and cookies, I'd pull in raccoons a treat. Do raccoons wash floors?

Do they drink whiskey, I wonder?

The Tipsy Raccoon would be a neat name for a cutesy pub.

I'm not prepared to deal with drunken raccoons.

A house elf? How wonderful would that be. I clean, but the "deep down cleaning" hasn't been done around here in ages. Every so often I pick one room, or just one spot and go at it...but those days are far and few between.
