For some reason, my vet received the DNA results for Gaby before I did. She received the results on Saturday, and phoned me today.

Should I make you guess? Here's a hint--my vet is the bomb.

About 80% husky. Also detected--a little American Eskimo. The rest is too jumbled to sort out, a little bit of this and that, including whichever terrier horned in to give her that face.

Vet typed her as part husky because of her vocalizing, especially when she came out of anesthesia. Her tail is also husky-like.

I admit to some surprise. I thought for sure there was some collie in there (the color of her coat), whippet/greyhound (her rangy build and flexiness of her back) and yorkie or silky.

That is incredibly cool! I'd never have guessed Husky from the photos.

You know, the face could come from a Yorkie, though I certainly hope that one was the father. Now I see the body filled out and cared for, I can see the Husky, but I'd be wondering about collie, too. Like a bearded collie, maybe?

Aaaah, husky. Does she woo-woo?

Vet thinks she has that husky/wolf woo-woo at the end of her barks. And she is becoming more and more vocal here at home. She barks and grumbles when I pet King, and now she's starting to make little noises when she stretches.

Our Keenya talks almost constantly, including when I get on the phone (he and the four-year-old egg each other on.)

Oh, and Vet agreed that I should try switching her to a performance food. I am currently feeding her almost 2x the amount of Eagle Pack Natural Formula that the feeding guidelines state a 30-lb dog should have. And guess what--huskies have high metabolism. So I'm going to look into Eagle Pack's Power formula, with more protein and fat.

As my cousin said when she told the story of the Shetland pony stallion who bred the 17-hand Quarter Horse mare, "She squatted."

I never could see 'Husky' in her, but these photos, if you ignore her head...yeah, her body shape is pretty Husky.

My *god* she's got a great face, though. *scruffles her*!

Huskies are smaller and rangier than I thought. I checked the AKC site, and Gaby isn't that much smaller than the female standard.

But her face totally throws it off. Benji-face. You just want to hug her.

What's funny is how my vet nailed it. She said that when she read the results, she just sat there and giggled.

You know what quiets Gaby? When I blow on a harmonica. She doesn't know what to make of it--she paces, leaves the room, comes back.

Apparently the female (dog) will dig herself a hole if need be.

Whatever those terrier genes are sure come through in her appearance, don't they?! Thanks for sharing.
