A Sprint commercial. The song, promoting some special call package? "Every Day Is Like Sunday" from Morrissey's Viva Hate album.

That's not right. I know it's his song to sell, but...that's not right.

Hide on the promenade
Etch a postcard :
How I dearly wish I was not here
In the seaside town
...that they forgot to bomb
Come, come, come - nuclear bomb

But be sure to phone first.

He also sold it to Sprint? I know it was already used to sell the NFL Network.

Isn't that something offered by Sprint? I think I recall seeing the NFL thing, but Sprint is somehow involved.

It seems like a cross-promotion thing. You can get the NFL Network exclusively on the Sprint Mobile phone network, and the current NFL Network song is "Every Day Is Like Sunday."

Ugh.

Reminds me a bit of Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life" being used for a cruise line. I mean, yeah, but... no.

It's not his to sell. It's his record company's to sell the recording, or anyone's to rerecord (as happened to "Saved by Zero"), so long as a few dinero change hands.

Really? Morrissey had been around the block a few times by the time he went solo--it isn't a given that he failed to retain all rights to his music.
