King is sleeping waaay at the other end of the house because there's a big fly inside that's buzzing around the living room/kitchen and King hates buzzing.

I sympathize with King, I hate buzzing, too (and get irritated when marketing people talk about "buzz" and other people copy marketing weaselspeak using the same term. Kinaesthetically, it squicks and irritates me, and synaesthesis hits with it, it invokes a high negative sensation response from me... So I both hate buzzing, and the use of the term to denote promotion and attention)!

I don't know what he hears, but he doesn't like any sort of high-pitched buzzing or hissing sound. He runs away from aerosol and pump sprayers, too.

Tank doesn't like flies either, but he attacks them instead of running from them.

Sometimes King snaps at them. Every once in a while, he catches one. But this was a big one and he may not have been able to keep it in his sights. So off to the bedrooms he went.

Max will hunt, catch and eat flies. I will never forget the time we were watching TV and all of a sudden Max jumped into our line of vision (straight up about 4 feet), snatched the fly out of the air and landed again amazingly gracefully. A Yorkie Flycatcher.
